Looking Ahead
In order for Advent to continue to reach out in our two locations, a Capital Campaign is a necessity. We must be faithful to use God's resources to do whatever is necessary to help build the kingdom. Our church has launched a Capital Stewardship Campaign entitled “Building in the Spirit” to aid us in preparing to do what only God can do. With the construction of a new multi-purpose building in Arlington, we will have the space to move forward, impacting our community so that they might hear the loving and saving message of Jesus Christ. These exciting days that we are in bring us to a new challenge. The total cost of the new improvements is approximately 2.3 million dollars.
Who We Are
In 1976 the Presbytery of West Tennessee saw the potential for a church in a soon to be developed community called Cordova. Eight acres of land was purchased on Germantown Road and in 1978 the Schieber family was called from Pennsylvania to plant a new church. Over the next 30 years many prayers were answered as both the church and community blossomed. Today, 31 years later, Advent has about 1300 members. To share God's love with others as we have seen it in Jesus Christ, is our mission. Not only has the church blossomed, but many Advent members have grown into faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Through such people at Advent God is drawing others into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ. That's our strategy and our “Building in the Spirit” campaign will only strengthen our ability to continue this work which is of eternal importance.

Achieving Our Goal
On Commitment Sunday, May 23, 2010, everyone in our church will be given the opportunity to make a three year commitment over and above what they are currently giving to the operating budget. Plan to be a part of this Commitment Sunday by being present, and let's join together in our commitment to sacrificially give toward this exciting vision. Then let's watch what God will do!
